Let’s get this out of the way: in a few weeks, we WILL have the first-ever African American woman on the Supreme Court. We just have to sit through all of this sappy and soapy political theater in the Senate first. It is analogous to telling a woman she gets to spend the rest of her life canoodling with Idris Elba, but she has to sleep with Flavor Flav first. (Sorry, Flav.) These jive-ass hearings are drawing to a close so I can proceed with the announcement that the nominees for best actress in a comedy or musical are Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, and of course the Meryl Streep of the Senate, Lindsay Graham. Pundits claim these fools are shaming themselves but they are wrong. You must first have self-awareness in order to be ashamed of yourself. And these guys are either entirely devoid of self-awareness, or they are indeed deformed demons straight from the bowels of hell. But still, they can’t stop her ascent. They can only hope to dirty her up along the way. And we are learning that these weak weasels can’t even do that. This sister is just that good.

From what I understand, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson has already hit that G-spot in American culture where she can go by her initials as a nickname. That is reserved for those who breathe that rarified air where great achievement collides with even greater popularity. That collision has given us JFK and two LBJs (one in politics…
