And The Rise of The Trump Reich Is His Legacy

Buckle up, America. It’s about to get wild. So wild that it will be easy, or maybe even a little tempting, to lose track of the crucial details of how we got there. We do not know exactly what they are yet, but if the incoming president even attempts to deliver on his campaign threats to deport millions of immigrants and jail scores of his adversaries, shocking events will unfold that will dominate our attention and demand that we take action.

It is inevitable that the chaos to come will give a lot of people a pass who are guilty of helping to usher in this era of American shame. Let’s be damned sure that Merrick Garland is not one of them.

We need to brand Garland as exactly what he has shown himself to be: a coward who hid behind process and professionalism to avoid performing the most basic duties that he swore an oath to perform.

If we fail to affix this scarlet letter to him, there will be no disincentive for the next similarly situated public servant to tap-out when it is time to man-up.
